Raja Ram Mohan Roy

Born on 22 May 1772, Raja Rammohan Roy has been given the title of “Father of the New Age of India and Bengal”. He extracted traditional Hindu traditions from India and worked for the cause of women. He also did many social works in the interest of the development of the society. He had two sons from his second wife, whose names were Radhaprasad and Ramprasad. Radhaprasad was born in 1800 and Ramprasad in 1812. Like Rammohan’s first wife, his second wife also died. Similarly, when he got married for the third time, the third wife died in the same way.

His family decided to get him married. They thought that Rammohan would be separated from these things after marriage. But nothing like this happened. His marriage did not affect him. He left for Varanasi to study the Upanishads. When his father died in 1803, Rammohan returned to Murshidabad.
